GP APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
Carrickmore health centre currently operate a total triage system for routine and emergency GP appointments.
If you require a GP appointment please telephone the practice at 08.30am on 02880761242.
When you telephone for an GP appointment the medical receptionist will ask you if your wish to provide some clinical details about your problem.
This is to ensure that the most urgent patients get dealt with in a timely manner.
If you do not wish to provide details for the reason you are seeking a GP apppointment we will respect this decision, but please be aware that this will automatically mean your call is dealt with as a routine matter.
Once you have logged your triage call a GP will call you back to arrange a face to face appointment or provide clinical advice/ management based on your problem.
Based on current British Medical Association and Royal College of General practitioners recommendations we have a safe capacity for routine triage appointments daily. Once this has been reached for the day you will be asked to call back the following morning at 08.30 about routine matters.
If you feel your medical problem is urgent and cannot wait until the following day please make this clear to the reception team and this will be passed to the duty GP as an emergency triage.
The medical receptionists play a vital role helping patients access the care they need and supporting our GP's, nurses and wider healthcare team. We kindly ask that you treat them with respect and remind you that the practice has a zero tolerance policy for abuse against staff.
We do not routinely provide appointments from the front desk.

HOME VISIT REQUESTS
Whilst we encourage our patients to attend the surgery where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. House visits will be provided to those who are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice.
If you feel you need a home visit please request this by calling reception before 10am daily and be prepared to give the medical receptionist some clinical details as to the nature and urgency of the problem.
You can also be visited at home by a District Nurse if you are referred by your GP.
You should also be visited at home by a Health Visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years old
TREATMENT ROOM AND NURSE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
Appointments for the treatment room and nursing staff can be made directly through reception.
Nursing and Health Care Assistants provide a wide range of services including phelbotomy, wound dressings, blood pressure measurements, ECG's, vaccinations, cervical screening and chronic disease management to name a few.
Our treatment room also facilitate blood tests requested by hospital staff. This is due to our more rural location and to help prevent patient's travelling excessively when they may be unwell. If this is the case we kindly ask that you take the forms and labels provided by the hospital to your appointment so the results can go directly to the relevant consultant or team.
We frequently have patients that don't attend their appointment in the treatment room and therefore their appointment slot goes to waste. We have high demand for our treatment room appointments and cancellations can easily be filled even at short notice, so we would kindly ask for you to make all efforts to contact the practice if you can't make your appointment.
